On another piece of paper wide enough to accommodate the spread, mark a straight line down the middle of the paper to mark the grainline. This line is now the center of the sleeve; match the center slash on the sleeve to the grainline on the paper. You should have four slashed pieces on each half of the sleeve. We are going to spread each slash 1″ (2.5 cm), so place the two middle slashes ½″ (1.3 cm) away from the grainline and tape in place. Continue to spread each slash 1″ (2.5 cm) apart and tape them down. Draw a curved line connecting each slash at the hem of the sleeve.
